Walking the Talk Foundation Fundraiser Walk for West Park School

Over 400 participants supported Walking the Talk Foundation’s first hosted fundraiser walk to equip a technology classroom at West Park School.

A New Way of Walking the Talk

The tremendous community support that fuelled Dale van Blerk along his previous routes sparked a new idea. Instead of walking great distances solo, Walking The Talk Foundation invited the public to walk a shorter distance together!

That idea became reality on 15 March 2025, when WTTF hosted its first official fundraising walk in Amanzimtoti. Proudly supported by Macsteel as the sole Platinum Sponsor, this event marked a major milestone for WTTF.

Focused on Impact at West Park School

More than 400 learners, educators, parents, and community members took part in the 5 km walk around the Amanzimtoti Community Hall precinct.

More than 400 learners, educators, parents, and community members took part in the 5 km walk around the Amanzimtoti Community Hall precinct.

Everyone shared the clear objective of raising funds and securing resources to build and equip a technology classroom at West Park School, creating improved learning opportunities for current and future learners.

Why This Fundraiser Matters

“Education then, beyond all other devices of human origin, is the great equalizer of the conditions of men, the balance-wheel of the social machinery.”

Located in Durban, West Park School caters for learners with intellectual challenges aiding them to fulfil their educational and vocational needs. Unfortunately, their overcrowded classrooms and limited resources restrict learning potential. The fundraiser was designed to move beyond awareness and deliver practical, long-term solutions.

The development of a technology classroom will:

  • Improve access to digital learning tools
  • Enhance classroom capacity and functionality
  • Prepare learners for a technology-driven future
  • Motivate the educator to teach with world class technologies
  • Uplift the community.

Community Participation and Reach

The walk demonstrated strong community backing for education upliftment. It also strengthened collaboration between schools, businesses, and service providers, reinforcing the role of collective action in addressing educational challenges.
