27 Days of resilience and support

27 Days of resilience and support

Introduction:
Welcome to the second leg of my incredible journey! After completing the Johannesburg to Durban walk, I decided to stay in Durban and continue my mission of helping schools, hotels, and companies in need. In this blog, I will share the highlights of my experiences, from seeking support and sponsors to visiting schools and making a positive impact.

1. Seeking Support in Kloof:
In the first week of February, I stayed in Kloof and focused on reaching out to local businesses for support and sponsorship. I was incredibly fortunate to receive new shoes, clothing, and a backpack from Adidas. These generous donations rejuvenated my spirit and allowed me to continue my journey with renewed hope.

2. Gilletts Primary School:
One of my priorities was visiting Gilletts Primary School to understand their needs. I collected valuable information and managed to secure TOMI7 Interactive Whiteboard devices for their classrooms. Additionally, through persistent efforts, we successfully acquired a LED Touch Screen worth 80k, enhancing their educational resources significantly.

3. Exploring Durban Central:
Afterwards, I made my way to Durban central, where I embarked on a quest to secure food and accommodation for two weeks. I visited various hotels, humbly asking for their support. The kindness and generosity of these establishments allowed me to sustain myself during this period, reaffirming the power of community and collective compassion.

4. A Well-Deserved Rest in Ramsgate:
In early March, I took a much-needed break and stayed in Ramsgate with a friend for a month. This respite gave me the opportunity to recharge and reflect on the journey thus far, preparing me for the challenges ahead.

5. Impacting Schools in the South Coast:
During my time on the South Coast, I visited eight schools with distinct needs. Margate Middle School required 18 doors to replace vandalized ones, an athletic field, and technology resources. Margate Primary School needed technology upgrades, while Sunny Hill Primary and South City Christian School required additional classrooms. At Hubuscus Primary School, the need for technology was apparent. These visits further emphasized the importance of providing adequate classrooms and maintenance, taking three weeks from March to April.

Working in Cape Town and Returning to Durban:
To sustain myself financially, I traveled to Cape Town and spent a month working various jobs, from installing chimneys to painting and pest control. This endeavor allowed me to earn income to cover food and accommodation expenses. At the end of April, I returned to Durban, where I am currently busy setting up an office and seeking sponsors for essential supplies such as paint, tools, roofing materials, cement, food, accommodation, transport, and conditioning.

Future Plans in Ballito and the North Coast:
In the near future, I will make my way to Balito to continue my mission along the North Coast. This will involve visiting schools and corporate entities, offering assistance, and seeking support to fulfill the mission of providing much-needed help to the community.

Conclusion:
The journey continues as I persist in my mission to make a positive impact on schools staying in hotels and getting support from companies. Through the generosity of sponsors and the determination to support educational institutions, I have been able to contribute to the betterment of communities. This ongoing endeavor reminds me of the power of collective effort and the transformative nature of walking for a cause. I have walked 1700km up to date 20230715
